Our Team at FirstThe Rev. Rick HawleyLead Ministerrick@firstunitedchurch.ca Rick oversees the spiritual life of the congregation and the orderly operation of the church. He has primary responsibility for worship planning, preaching and administration of the Sacraments. He is liaison with the staff of the church, the Church Board and its committees, Waterloo Presbytery, Hamilton Conference and the United Church of Canada. The Lead Minister upholds the vision of the congregation.
The Rev. Kellie McCombMinister of Family Ministrykellie@firstunitedchurch.ca Kellie provides leadership for families seeking new ways to experience their faith journey. She works with the Christian Development and Outreach Committees to create opportunities for spiritual growth and faith development for the entire church community. Kellie leads in worship, provides pastoral care and supports the Sunday school, youth groups and adult programs.
Nancy DunbarParish Nursefirstparishnurse@gmail.com First United endeavours to be a place of health and healing. God's glory is revealed in the heavens and the wonderful creation of our bodies. Nancy coordinates health-related information sessions and is available to anyone for consultation. She works with those who are dealing with loss of health, caring for aging parents, managing at home with illness, or needing someone with them at the doctor's office, emergency room or hospital. If you are unsure if you should call then you should!
The Rev. Eva MezoMinister of Pastoral Careevajmezo@gmail.com Eva’s role is primarily to visit the many who have shared in First’s faith community throughout the years but who are no longer able to attend services. Through conversation, prayer and occasionally communion, the richness of their lives is celebrated and their faith lives encouraged.
Kathleen King MartinDirector of Musickathleen@firstunitedchurch.ca Kathleen brings skill and creative leadership to the ministry of music at First United. As organist and pianist for worship services, she leads the congregational singing. She rehearses and directs the Gallery Choir which leads worship music weekly, the Youth Choir for young people in grades 7-12, the Junior Choir for children in grades 1-6 and the Handbell Choir comprised of church members and community friends.
Janet McDougallChurch Administratoroffice@firstunitedchurch.ca You will hear Janet's voice when you call the church. Janet co-ordinates all room bookings, prepares the weekly bulletin and notices, maintains the church database, performs all bookkeeping duties, answers the telephone and email inquiries and provides support to staff, committees and the congregation.
Peter FerryHead CustodianPeter keeps our building clean, the floors shiny, the windows clear, the grass cut, and the sidewalks shoveled. He also does minor repairs and setting up for events in the church.
